Every team and project manager manage risk differently. Let's discuss proven and new ways to assess, manage, categorize, and register risk. How is a risk different than an issue? What does an optimal risk management plan look like? Could you use a few examples and templates? Then come prepared with an open mind and ready to take notes! Part II from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm The Five Behaviors® Team Development In the modern workplace, our environments are in constant flux. As a result, it can feel downright impossible to develop a truly cohesive team. The truth: teams rarely hit their collaborative peak and potential unconsciously. With the right framework, developing and practicing teamwork comes consistently, and relationships thrive—taking your organization to the next level. The Five Behaviors® Team Development will transform your perspective and the way you team. We will dive into Patrick Lencioni's Five Behaviors of a Dysfunctional Team and give you the tools necessary to turn dysfunction into function. Get ready for an interactive, engaging ride as we uncover the secrets to building and managing a stellar team. Risk Management: Learning Objectives Use PMBOK as starting point for risk management definitions and expectations. Review “What is Risk in Project Management,” positive and negative risks on projects, identification evaluation, risk response strategies. Explore definitions and terminologies. Differentiate risk management processes and risk response strategies. Visualize and analyze a case study. Five Behaviors Learning Objectives Examine the five behaviors of a team - trust, conflict, commitment, accountability, and results. Identify trends and challenges facing teams in organizations. Acquire key skills to build a cohesive team and the discipline required to overcome barriers caused by natural tendencies that make effective teamwork elusive. Compare the State of Teams today with your organization and experience. About the Speaker: Roger is a motivational speaker who helps you create teams and companies people don’t want to leave. You hire him for his expertise in emotional intelligence and appreciation. He doesn’t give up on people; he believes they will find a way to move forward and improve. How does he do it? PMI-DVC Agile Open House - June 23, 2022 When: Thursday, June 23, 2022, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM Where: Via Zoom Credit: 1.5 Technical PDUs Registration fee: Complimentary (Members only event) Topic: Communication Channels in Agile Frameworks Presenters: Leigh Ann Gunther, Ryan McGonigle and Tom Welsh "What did you say?" "I wish I had known that sooner." "When was this decided?" "I didn't know that changed." Commonly comments like these can trackback to issues in Team communication. When there are missed opportunities in relaying information, this inevitably leads to increased cost, late delivery, and scope creep. Every aspect of a project or product delivery is impacted when there is no clear communication plan. Agile environments welcome change, and with that attitude comes the need for solid communication and the team's responsibility to ensure transmission of the information occurs. As a pillar of the Agile Manifesto, and as Agilists, we value "individuals and interactions, and we adhere to the belief that "the most efficient and effective method" of communicating is "face-to-face conversation." Scrum events such as the Daily Standup, Sprint Demos, and Sprint Planning are constructed to decentralize information and solicit feedback loops. As a result, open forums for communication within the Scrum Team ensure that communication occurs frequently. How can teams ensure that these Events are effective and efficient within the team and that the correct information reaches upward to leadership? What mechanics drive these Scrum Events? Join Leigh Ann Gunther and special guests Ryan McGonigle and Tom Welsh on June 23 as they explore methods for communicating within the team and communicating upwards to leadership. Join in the conversation as they share experiences that have helped build thriving Agile Teams. Learning Objectives: 1. Discuss the foundations of Agile principles, practices, and guidelines that lead to experience and how to leverage that towards professional growth and the ability to mentor. 2. Explore ways to describe how to implement Agile strategies, goals, and practices for the benefit of a professional's growth. 3. Explore with a panel of experts in Project Management and Agility how they have mentored others and how you can benefit from their experience. Speaker Bios: Leigh Ann Gunther is a Senior Technical Project Manager at Comcast and an enthusiastic Agilist who serves as the Director of Agile for PMI-DVC. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Classic German Literatures and Art History from Moravian University and a Master of Arts in Modern European History from Villanova University. Leigh Ann maintains industry certifications as a PMP, and PMI-ACP from the Project Management Institute, and Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), and is a Scrum Foundations Educator from the Scrum Alliance. Ryan McGonigle is a Senior Technical Project Manager at Comcast with a wide array of experiences in the role of Product Owner, Scrum Master, and Project Manager. Over the past several years, Ryan focused primarily on developing cross-functional teams that span the globe. This ability, combined with his vast tool kit of communication techniques and skills, business acumen, and project management experience, allows Ryan to provide customers with the greatest quality of service and value. Tom Welsh is a Software Development Manager at Comcast with over 20 years of experience in software development and people leadership. Over his career at Comcast as a Systems and Development Architect, Tom has contributed to countless products that daily impact customers' experiences. With his extensive experience, Tom has sought to lead and empower those around him by embracing principles of servant leadership.
