Demystifying Agile: Writing Good User Stories When: Tuesday, March 9, 2021, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm Where: Via Zoom Credit: 1.5 Technical PDU Registration Fee: Complimentary Facilitators: Leigh Ann Gunther, Director of Agile; David Betancourt, Agilist & Senior Software Architect We asked what you wanted from Agile Programing, and we heard you! In continuing our journey to “Demystify Agile,” join us for a session designed to explore the art of “Writing Good User Stories.” We will focus our time on the practical application of crafting User Stories. During this session, we will walk participants through receiving a requirement and breaking it down to the User Story level. Please join PMI-DVC Director of Agile, Leigh Ann Gunther, accompanied by Agilist, Architect, and User Story writer extraordinaire David Betancourt, as we explore how Requirements transform into user stories with tangible value and deliverables. What makes a good User Story? How do we know? Learning Objectives: Learn how to take a Requirement from the end-user or consumer and transform it into User Stories. We will share examples and field questions from members. Learn how to INVEST in user story writing. The INVEST model assesses the value of a user story. User Stories should be Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimate-able, Sized Appropriately, and Testable. We will discuss how this model contributes to building user stories from Requirements. Learn how to create Acceptance Criteria and not solutions. Iterative refinement and demos to the end-user or consumer lead us to the solutions. Agenda: 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm Speaker presentation and Q&A

You want and need essential tools to navigate the rocky waters of working with your people again. Everyone’s normal is new, and it’s not necessarily the same normal from person to person. How do you deal with the uncertainty and stress? Now, more than ever, it is essential to show up authentically. Using the C.A.R.E. model, you will have tools to survive and thrive in a world that is in a state of consistent change. Project managers deal with change daily. Change is more complicated and complex to manage than ever. You need a framework and tools to help guide you through the rapid waters of all this change. The first step is to come from a place of authenticity. Be your authentic self. We all experience change differently. Come away from this inspiring program with new ways to enhance and strengthen your work relationships with empathy, calm, and trust. Learning Objectives: Discover how to “step outside yourself” to have gratitude, mindfulness, and a healthier approach and attitude to the new normals we face. Learn and use four essential strategies to get the most positive benefits of working with people and teams in new situations and environments. Examine and evaluate your values and behaviors through the lenses of change, adaptation, resilience, and empathy. Employ C.A.R.E.™️ Model Strategies to navigate current and future change.
