Description:

The session will focus on Special Topics Impacting Contracting and Consulting. During the session, we will address key issues and topics relevant to starting and maintaining a successful consultancy at a high level. Topics include: transitioning from a full-time employee to independent worker, client management, and legal/financial considerations. In addition, attendees will use breakout rooms to further explore issues in smaller group settings and have an opportunity to share what they want to see from this newly formed special interest group.

Learning objectives:

1) Gain an understanding of issues impacting project professionals working as independent contractors and consultants.

2) Provide resources to help project professionals start or expand their business.

3) Learn strategies for addressing problems faced while serving in a consultant or contractor role.

Tari Johnson, PMP, PMI-ACP, CSM

Tari Johnson has over twenty years of experience in corporate and non-profit organizations as a

consultant, operations and leader, performance coach, and project management professional. Tari helps organizations increase the return on their investment through project and human capital management through her company, Path Growth Solutions LLC.

Tari has extensive experience and education in human learning and performance coaching, further adds to how she supports organizations with people development, matrix management, and performance coaching. She holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Widener University, and a certificate of advanced graduate study in Instructional Technology Management (focusing on Adult Learning and Instructional Design) from La Salle University. Tari is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Agile Certified Practitioner(PMI-ACP)® through the Project Management Institute. Tari is also a Certified Scrum Master (CSM®) through Scrum Alliance.
