With the need to produce products quickly and meet customer needs in an ever-changing environment, organizations are looking for new solutions. Agile project management helps project teams deliver the most valuable project components and address stakeholder needs while requirements change. This is something not easily accomplished with traditional project management methodologies.
Agile is an adaptive project life cycle. Using it, the project team will adapt as the environment or requirements change. It is also an iterative and incremental approach where multiple cycles of product development or services are provided, adjustments made, and then repeated. Each time, the team adjusts their plans accordingly, and delivers the most-important value to the customer.
As a PMI-DVC member, you will learn how Agile is a commonly used style of adaptive project life cycles. With the recently published PMBOK® Guide – Sixth Edition, project managers need to understand how Agile (adaptive) approaches can solve certain project solutions.
Key points:
- Understand Agile through a brief introduction of terms and concepts
- Learn how Agile helps provide customer value through increased communications and collaboration
- Understand how Agile, while being one of several project management approaches, can be a viable solution for your project
- Learn how Agile has been introduced more evidently throughout the PMBOK® Guide – Sixth Edition and that it is not a replacement of traditional project management but another method to drive project success
