Please join us for the inaugural session of the PMI-DVC Academic Council as we present on topics designed to assist local professionals in project management working in higher education to provide support and knowledge about our profession to students interested in learning more about project management.  This includes presentations on Distance Learning from Frank Anbari, PhD, PMP, Professor Emeritus at Drexel University, and Kevin Mayhew, PMP, from Penn State Abington, who will discuss how to utilize Project Management Jeopardy in the virtual classroom. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to hear one of the founders of PMI®, Jim Snyder, PMP, as he shares words of wisdom about project management.

Additionally, we will be sharing information about the benefits PMI and PMI-DVC can offer attendees and their students, as well as testimonials as to what being a part of the Academic Council means to some current members. 

Two of the faculty members on the Academic Outreach Committee encourage you to attend and wish to share these insights about the Academic Council.

Education, training, and research are the cornerstones of any profession. Progress in these areas allows a profession to flourish and provide consequential services to individuals, organizations, and society.

The Project Management Institute-Delaware Valley Chapter (PMI-DVC) has been developing its interactions with Institutions of Higher Learning (IHLs) in the Greater Philadelphia Area for many years, often on an informal basis. The PMI-DVC Academic Council intends to enhance these linkages and encourage further collaborations among IHLs in advancing learning in project management and sharing results of promising practices, all of which are compatible with the traditions of IHLs.

Meetings of PMI-DVC Academic Council are expected to support these objectives, starting with its inaugural virtual meeting scheduled on Thursday, April 8, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Event Calendar Notes

The Event Calendar indicates upcoming all Chapter events for the current calendar year and beyond.

Chapter Events

It is anticipated that each PMI-DVC monthly event meeting planning process commences at least several months in advance.  For 2021 all events will be virtual unless Government Regulations permit us to hold in-person meetings.  The Virtual platform we plan to use in 2021 will be Zoom.  We intend to use features of Zoom such as Breakout Rooms and Polling during planned events. Event attendance typically ranges from to 200 to 250 attendees.  The program committee does review the various Project Management and related subjects and ensures we are not repeating a subject on a frequent basis.  The Program Committee also awards Professional development Units or PDU’s at the conclusion of each event.  The transmission of PDU’s to PMI usually occurs within 2 weeks after the meeting has concluded. We always welcome our Chapter Members comments and suggestions via a feedback survey, which is distributed at the conclusion of each event.  If a member cannot send their comments on the survey, they can send their comments directly to Frank McKeown VP Professional Development at fmckeown@pmi-dvc.org or via cell at 917-295-9419.
