Foundations In Project Management (4 days)

An in-depth, four-day review of project management principles as described in the new 3rd Edition of PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge . Designed for those who are new to, or just starting in this area, the course will bring participants up to speed in the current principles and practices of the project management. Taught by PMP-certified practitioners who are working in the field, this course enables participants to return to the workplace and practice what they've learned or begin studying for PMP certification.  Four Saturdays; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

PMP Certification Review (2 days)

An intense, two day preparation/study course. Intended for candidates who are experienced in project management, or who have taken courses such as PMI-DVC's Foundations In Project Management. This course concentrates solely on preparation for the PMP certification as described in the new 3rd Edition of PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge. A review of material normally covered in the exam will be presented. Students are given sample questions of the type given on the exam. Instruction on how best to prepare, study for, and take the exam are presented.  Two Saturdays; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Earn a Masters Certificate in Project Management - 10 PDUs per class

Take your career to new heights with the Masters Certificate in Project Management. The Certificate in Project Management (MCPM) utilizes curriculum developed by highly experienced Certified Professional Trainers from the PMI-DVC Chapter. All courses are held on Friday evenings, 6-9:30 p.m. and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. = 10 contact hours. Distinguish yourself with this prestigious certificate program! Earn 10 PDUs per class.

Managing Project Requirements Process (ELECTIVE)
Properly understood requirements are vital to project success. Faced with increasingly turbulent business environments and the increasing complexity of projects, properly managing the requirements process is only becoming more difficult. Within this context, the course examines such topics as needs assessments, stakeholder evaluation, systems analysis, requirements determination and verification techniques, functional versus technical requirements, requirements-related quality assessment processes, requirements documentation methodologies, and requirements change management. Intercultural Communication (CORE)
As Project Management becomes more and more globalized we have the opportunity to interact with business associates from many different cultures and the differences in our backgrounds can cause some interesting communication challenges. This course offers an awareness and understanding of cultural differences as defined by ethnic, religious, gender, abilities and national differences, We'll look at the effects of nonverbal communication, recognize the impact of stereotypes and learn strategies for adapting different communications styles. Issues in Project Risk Management (CORE)
Will explore risk from different points of view (team, client, etc.), Risk identification techniques will be introduced. Quantifying risk and risk allowance methods will be discussed. Contracting- When the Project Management Plan Includes Purchase of Goods, Skills or Services from Outside the Performing Organization (ELECTIVE)
Understanding how to enter into and monitor contractual relationships is vital to high-performing enterprises in today’s outsourced world. Learn the basics of contract law and convention. Begin with contract planning: breaking down the project and deciding which components to do “in-house” and which to buy from an outside seller with awareness of complexities and risk transfer. Anticipate how to monitor the work and process changes. Make an award and administer the contract by accepting and paying for or rejecting work. Private and public sector contracting are compared. Building Resilience in Project Teams (ELECTIVE)

In this course, we will look at causes and effects of stress, and more importantly, of resilience. We will also look at techniques to manage stress and increase resilience for you and your team.
